Μεταφράσεις της Βίβλου στα Βεγγαλικά

Ο Ναθάνιελ Μ. Χάλχεντ της Βρετανικής Εταιρείας Ανατολικών Ινδιών δημοσίευσε μια Βεγγαλική γραμματική για τους Βρετανούς αξιωματούχους το 1776.^[1] Ο Ουίλιαμ Κάρεϊ του Σεραμπόρ μετέφρασε τη Βίβλο στη Βεγγαλική γλώσσα και τη δημοσίευσε το 1793 και 1801.^[2]^[3] Η υψηλή γλώσσα στη Βεγγαλική μετάφραση σε χρήση στο Μπαγκλαντές προέρχεται από την έκδοση του Κάρεϊ, ενώ οι εκδόσεις "κοινής γλώσσας" είναι νεότερες μεταφράσεις.^[4] Ο Κριστιάν Μινιόν, Βέλγος Ιησουίτης, τελείωσε μια αναθεωρημένη έκδοση της Βίβλου στα βεγγαλικά, με το όνομα Μανγκαλμπάρτα που έχει άφθονες υποσημειώσεις.^[5]
