Photograph from the 1890s of Swedish polar explorer S. A. Andrée's balloon Svea (bought in 1893) in Gothenburg, Sweden, with which he practiced his "drag rope" steering technique before his disastrous North Pole expedition with the balloon the Eagle in 1897. The image has been downloaded from http://www.zwoje-scrolls.com/zwoje41/text08p.htm and then cropped. Taken on 14 Ιουλίου 1894.
