Ο Νικόλαος Καλλιάκης[2] (Nicolaus Calliachius) (1645[3] - 1707) υπήρξε Έλληνας[4] λόγιος και φιλόσοφος που άκμασε στην Ιταλία τον 17ο αιώνα. Αναγορεύτηκε διδάκτωρ της φιλοσοφίας και θεολογίας στην Ρώμη[5], καθηγητής πανεπιστημίου των Ελληνικών και Λατινικών[6] και της αριστοτελικής φιλοσοφίας[7] στην Βενετία το 1666 και καθηγητής των καλών γραμμάτων (belles-lettres)[8] και ρητορικής[9] στην Πάδοβα το 1667.

Γεννήθηκε το 1645[10] στον Χάνδακα της Κρήτης. Η καταγωγή του ήταν ελληνική.[11][12][13][14][15] Κατέφυγε στην Ρώμη όπου διέμεινε επί δέκα χρόνια, διαπρέποντας ως ένας από τους πιο έξοχους διδασκάλους της ελληνικής και λατινικής γλώσσας.[16] Αναγορεύτηκε διδάκτωρ της φιλοσοφίας και θεολογίας.[17] Πήγε στην Βενετία το 1666 όπου αναγορεύτηκε καθηγητής της αριστοτελικής φιλοσοφίας[18] και της ελληνικής και λατινικής γλώσσας.[19] Έγινε διευθυντής του Ελληνομουσείου Φλαγγίνη από το 1665 ως το 1676.[20] Το 1677 δέχτηκε την πρόσκληση για την Πάδουα και ανέλαβε την έδρα του καθηγητή των καλών γραμμάτων (belles-lettres)[21] και της φιλοσοφίας και ρητορικής.[22] Συνέγραψε διατριβή περί των αρχαιοτήτων της Ελλάδας και της Ρώμης και σπούδασε τον χορό στην κλασική αρχαιότητα. Κύριο έργο του ήταν το De ludis scenicis mimorum et pantomimorum syntagma.[23] Στην Πάδουα παρέμεινε ως τον θάνατό του το 1707.[24]
