Το δικαίωμα στην πόλη είναι μια ιδέα και ένα σύνθημα, που ειπώθηκε αρχικά από τον Ανρί Λεφέμπβρ στο βιβλίο Le Droit à la ville (μτφ από γαλλικά: Το Δικαίωμα στην πόλη) του 1968.[1][2]
Επισκόπηση
Ο ιδέα του Λεφέμπβρ συνοψίζεται ως ένα "αίτημα...[για] μια διαφορετική και ανανεωμένη πρόσβαση στην αστική ζωή".[3][4] Ο Ντέιβιντ Χάρβεϊ , το περιγράφει ως εξής:
The right to the city is far more than the individual liberty to access urban resources: it is a right to change ourselves by changing the city. It is, moreover, a common rather than an individual right since this transformation inevitably depends upon the exercise of a collective power to reshape the processes of urbanization. The freedom to make and remake our cities and ourselves is, I want to argue, one of the most precious yet most neglected of our human rights.[5]

Μια σειρά από γνωστά κινήματα, όπως το "κάτοικοι καταφυγίων" Abahlali baseMjondolo στη Νότια Αφρική,[6] το Συμμαχία Δικαίωμα στην Πόλη στις Ηνωμένες Πολιτείες,[7] το Recht auf Stadt,[8] ένα δίκτυο καταληψίων, ενοικιαστών και καλλιτεχνών στο Αμβούργο, και διάφορες κινήσεις στην Ασία και τη λατινική Αμερική,[9] έχουν ενσωματώσει την ιδέα του δικαιώματος στην πόλη τους αγώνες τους.
Στη Βραζιλία Καταστατικό Πόλης του 2001 έγραψε το Δικαίωμα στην Πόλη στην ομοσπονδιακή νομοθεσία.[10]
Πιο πρόσφατα, οι μελετητές προτείνουν ένα "Ψηφιακό Δικαίωμα στην Πόλη",[11][12] όπου να περιλαμβάνεται η σκέψη για την πόλη, όχι μόνο σαν τούβλα και κονίαμα, αλλά και σαν ψηφιακός κώδικας και πληροφορία.[13]
