Η ιστορία της θεραπαινίδας (αγγλικά: The Handmaid's Tale) είναι δραματική σειρά αμερικάνικης παραγωγής. Ξεκίνησε να προβάλλεται το 2017 από την συχνότητα Hulu και συνεχίζει μέχρι σήμερα. Ζητήθηκε από τη διαδικτυακή υπηρεσία Hulu ως μια σειρά 10 επεισοδίων, η παραγωγή των οποίων άρχισε στα τέλη του 2016.^[1]

Τα πρώτα επεισόδια κυκλοφόρησαν στις 26 Απριλίου 2017, ενώ τα επόμενα επεισόδια προβάλλονταν κάθε Τετάρτη. Τον Μάιο του 2017 η σειρά ανανεώθηκε για δεύτερο κύκλο ο οποίος έκανε πρεμιέρα στις 25 Απριλίου 2018.^[2] Τον Μάιο του 2018 η σειρά ανανεώθηκε για τρίτο κύκλο,^[3] ο οποίος έκανε πρεμιέρα στις 5 Ιουνίου 2019.^[4] Τον Ιούλιο του 2019 η σειρά ανανεώθηκε για τέταρτο κύκλο.^[5]
