Dolphin[επεξεργασία κώδικα]
Hi, welcome and thanks for your help with the email account. The welcome committee might add the welcome template some time soon on your discussion page. If you're asking on the greek Wikipedia whether the origin of a word is greek, chances are that you'll get a positive answer:) The dolphin has a greek origin indeed (δελφίνι), but as far as I know the name Delphine is not in use in Greece (it would be "Δελφίνη"; it's a girl's name, right?). If there is any relation to Delphi I wouldn't know, there is δελφύς meaning belly. By the way our etymology expert is Dr Moshe, he might tell you where the ancient word comes from--Αρχίδαμοςμίλα μου 12:11, 6 Οκτωβρίου 2006 (UTC)
We would probably name you Δελφίνος in Greece, even though that name is used for the translation of "Dauphin" both in literal use (heir apparent of the Valois and Bourbon kings) and as a heir apparent in general (especially in politics). Welcome.--FocalPoint Συζήτηση 15:56, 6 Οκτωβρίου 2006 (UTC)
