Pardon my English. I don't speak Greek.
Could you maybe discuss the history of the name? Was it ever called Κερες in Greek? I wrote a bit at 1108 Δήμητηρ on WP-en about the naming conflict and how it was resolved in Greek, but I don't know the history, only the current situation.
Since it will probably be a long time before anyone answers this, would you mind letting me know on my talk page?

The name "Ceres" is definitely not Greek, it's Latin and there's no word "Κερες" in Greek. The greek name is the one you mention "Δημήτηρ". --Ttzavarasσυζήτηση 22:07, 4 Ιουλίου 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you. Yes, I understand that. But I was wondering if it were the product of a particular time, or if it were a general convention. I guess, based on 3 Ήρα, 4 Εστία, and 8 Χλωρίς, that it was a general convention to translate Roman names to their Greek equivalents. But it wasn't always done: 12 Βικτώρια, 13 Ηγερία, 19 Φορτούνα, which are Latin. Did the convention only operate in the early years? (But then it happened again with 37 Πίστη.) Was it maybe because of problems like 46 Εστία vs. 4 Εστία, where a Δήμητηρ–Δημήτρα solution was not available? Kwamikagami 05:37, 5 Ιουλίου 2011 (UTC)
